The Most Unwelcome Guest
Two weeks before their biggest event of the year, Loews Hotel in Atlanta received an unwelcome guest: a burst water supply line on the 21st floor that would flood 14 floors beneath it, including 63 hotel rooms, the hotel spa, and the main lobby. It was December 14th, and in a matter of days, a full house of guests would be pouring into the hotel for the New Year’s Gala on the 31st. A flood is never convenient, but this one was on track to be a disaster of gigantic proportions for Loews — their reputation with hundreds of hopeful holiday guests stood on the line.
While guests from the flooded rooms were still being relocated to drier ground, the EPIC team was moving in; within 30 minutes of the crisis, water extraction was already underway. In the coming days, EPIC worked relentlessly, drying and reconstructing the affected areas, mitigating the damage at a breakneck speed.
"What happens when a burst pipe is the first one to show up for your New Year’s Eve bash?"
The EPIC team wrapped up the emergency part of the project just in time for the New Year’s celebration to begin. To everyone’s relief, the Loews Hotel was safe and ready for a different kind of flood: all those happy people pouring through the hotel doors, ready to ring in the new year.
